London, you've been great

Written on the plane on Thursday the 11th

On my way back on the plane to Edinburgh, it's 23:41 at the moment cause the plane was over an hour late. I am so tired, early mornings and long days. I have already finished my book (that was what I kept myself entertained with during the wait), I did some colouring in my new therapeutic colouring book that I got at Tate. And yes colouring is FUN and super relaxing! Anyway, since I am too tired to read more I thought I would tell you about my holiday.

On Monday I arrived. Sascha and her gran came to meet me at the train station. Then we went home to their little house in this small village in East Grinstead. Sascha made dinner and we had a really relaxing night, just catching up, drinking wine and watching a movie.

Sascha was off on Tuesday so we went in to London! We walked past Buckingham Palace, Big Ben (Which I learned is actually not called Big Ben, the big clock inside is Big Ben but the tower is actually called The Elizabeth Tower, now you know that), across Tower Bridge and then we went for sushi at YO Sushi. We stacked up quite a few plates and we had two servings of the strawberry cheesecake mocchi, which is without doubt the best mocchi I have ever had! The chocolate mocchi didn't come far behind. We went to Tate Modern Art Gallery and tried to understand modern art, and trust me when I say that we actually tried. We stood infront of two different paintings trying to understand the meaning behind it but we turned around after three minutes and realised we didn't get a thing. I liked some of the art in there, other things was just giant poo on the floor. I bought my colouring book at Tate though, and postcards that you can make yourself. Paint or draw on one side and write on the other. Sascha thought I should bring them with me to Africa so I can paint what I've seen and send to friends and family.

When I booked my holiday to London I thought that it would be really good to see some old friends that live there. So I conntacted both my friend Matilda and Anna. And on Wednesday I met up with Matilda! Before I did I went to The National Gallery of Art. I spent around two hours in there admiring the art. I could easily get lost and spend hours and hours in there. Matilda and I met up outside and made our way to Covent Garden where we sat down for a coffe. It's been years since we saw each other so we had loads to cath up on! She took me to see Piccadilly Circus, China Town and The Ritz. We walked to Hyde Park and saw princess Dianas memorial ground, then we sat town at a cafè overlooking the lake. When she had to make her way to work I went in to Oxford Street for some window shopping. The stores are massive in London! Topshops first floor is like bag heaven, they even have a frozen yoghurt bar and a place where you can buy fancy cupcakes in the store.
I made Sascha and I miss the train cause I had to feed a squirrel, but how can you resist, they're so cute and I actually asked Sascha if you could have one as a pet. She said no..

On Thursday I went home to Anna for brunch, years and years since we last saw each other. So just as with Matilda we had a lot to catch up on. I met both her dog, a very cute and energetic pug named Watson and her fiance. So nice to see her again after all theese years. That day I went sightsing, I went on a bus tour and a boat tour. The weather was amazing, and the last couple of hours I spent in St James Park reading.

It was such a good holiday and I can't even describe how good it was to see my old friends and also to spend time with Sascha. Felt that that was just what I needed! I will defenetly be back, there is still a few things I want to do in London. Thinking that Stuart and I should go there for a weekend at one point.

Much Love, Elin
